I Live in a Freezer.

It actually might be colder than your average freezer. Every year, around this time, Saint Paul decides to take advantage of the temperatures and throw a winter carnival. What does that mean? Ice sculptures. An entire square block downtown dedicated to ice sculptures. Here we have a few of my favorites, a Mr. Potato Head, a tropical scene, the Cheshire Cat, a Southwest Airlines advert (no shame), and of course, The Last Supper. Take a look.

I've heard that there's usually an ice castle you can actually walk through, but evidently that tradition is no more. It's amazing to me that they can do this! These will probably be up through May.

P.S. If you still haven't watched the video below, you really should. It's not really one of those boring informational videos. You'll see.

i know minnesota is colder than ny. but let me just tell you that I AM NO LONGER HAPPY LIVING IN THE COLDEST CIRCLE OF HELL.

there. i said it.

do you have a car there? I'm just wondering...I just have a bike. which I love beyond words but black ice is a dangerous, dangerous thing! (and buses are extremely inefficient and unreliable, if you want to know the truth.)

I do have a car. And I've seen people biking out there, even when it gets down to 25 below. And I think, how do you do it? I feel like biking in that kind of cold would really hurt. And, like you say, ice would be extra dangerous. I really admire their determination, though. And I admire yours! :)

People keep telling me this weather lasts through May or so. This is crazy!
